Devices paired to the Echo Hub show up in Alexa, with no extra hub: its 8-inch touch-screen panel has a Zigbee hub and a Thread 1.3 border router built in. Matter devices also work through Alexa. Amazon UK says select lights, switches and plugs keep working when the internet is down. For Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings and Home Assistant, no official source confirms that paired devices appear there.

Specs that matter for setup
- Radio: Amazon's German announcement lists a built-in hub with Zigbee, Thread, Bluetooth and Matter, plus wireless internet or Ethernet through an optional PoE adapter; Amazon UK names the wireless link as Wi-Fi. Ethernet is not recorded because it needs the adapter.
- Hub: The Echo Hub is the hub. Amazon's German announcement describes a built-in smart home hub, and Amazon UK says no separate bridge is needed.
- Local control: Amazon UK says select devices such as lights, switches and plugs still work when the internet is down. Amazon's German announcement doesn't cover this.
- Type: An 8-inch touch-screen smart home control panel for the wall or, with an optional stand, the countertop.
- Connects devices over: Zigbee devices pair to the built-in hub; Thread serves Matter-over-Thread devices.
- Matter bridge: Amazon's Matter docs describe Echo as the Matter administrator for Alexa, not as a bridge that exposes its devices to other Matter controllers.
- Thread border router: Listed among Echo and eero devices with a built-in Thread border router, Thread version 1.3.
- Max devices: No device limit found in Amazon's sources.
